My Thoughts

I really enjoyed Katerina Diamonds first book "The Teacher", although if you read my review you wouldnt think so, I guess I was in a picky mood that day. Rarely for me I pre ordered this on Amazon. Normally I would of read it as soon as it was published but I had a bit of a backlog of books from Netgalley to get through so I had to leave it until now.
Now that I have managed to trim that down without requesting anymore, I sat down ready to be thrilled and entertained. First off I hadnt realised that this was going to be a series, not that I have any problem with that, I just didnt read the blurb so with open arms I welcomed the return to the world of DS Imogen Grey.
As usual I wont go into plot details but this is a great book full of intertwined stories that leave you wanting to turn page after page. God knows what goes on in Katerina Diamonds head that she can come up with such great storylines and characters. I just hope that whatever it is continues to give us such enjoyable books.
Highly recommended.

The Blurb

Here and Gone is a gripping, wonderfully tense suspense thriller about a mother's desperate fight to recover her stolen children from corrupt authorities.. It begins with a woman fleeing through Arizona with her kids in tow, trying to escape an abusive marriage. When she's pulled over by an unsettling local sheriff, things soon go awry and she is taken into custody. Only when she gets to the station, her kids are gone. And then the cops start saying they never saw any kids with her, that if they're gone than she must have done something with them... Meanwhile, halfway across the country a man hears the frenzied news reports about the missing kids, which are eerily similar to events in his own past. As the clock ticks down on the search for the lost children, he too is drawn into the desperate fight for their return.

My Thoughts

March hasn't been a particularly prolific month for my reading. Birthdays, Visits from Parents, Kids, Moving house, you know the drill, real life have all gotten in the way.
However the books I have read have been amongst some of the best I have read, Here and Gone is no exception. Set in the run down and forgotten Arizona wilds, the story plays on every Parents nightmare. At times its a harrowing tale that made me put the book down for a bit. The story and moves a good pace with well written characters that come to life with realistic dialogue. I thought Danny was a great character who could quite easily have his own series of books, the new Jack Reacher?
A great fast paced thriller that will keep you hooked and wanting more.

The Blurb

On a remote Highland mountain, the body of Elaine Buxton is burning. All that will be left to identify the respected lawyer are her teeth and a fragment of clothing.

In the concealed back room of a house in Edinburgh, the real Elaine Buxton screams into the darkness…

Detective Inspector Luc Callanach has barely set foot in his new office when Elaine’s missing persons case is escalated to a murder investigation. Having left behind a promising career at Interpol, he’s eager to prove himself to his new team. But Edinburgh, he discovers, is a long way from Lyon, and Elaine’s killer has covered his tracks with meticulous care.

It’s not long before another successful woman is abducted from her doorstep, and Callanach finds himself in a race against the clock. Or so he believes … The real fate of the women will prove more twisted than he could have ever imagined.

My Thoughts

My 5 star reading streak continues.

Perfect Remains is near enough a perfect read. I loved it. At first I didnt really take to DI Callanach but the more I read and with the Introduction of Ava it got better and better. The story is told in alternating chapters from the viewpoint of DI Callanach and the Creepy and Evil Dr King. As the story unfolds we find out more of Callanachs past and what has lead him to leave Interpol and relocate to Scotland. The book moves at a good pace and we dont get bogged down with superfluous background of any of the characters. Although we know who has done what the tension in the book is still palpable and there were a few twists that left me speechless.

A masterclass in how to write a Thriller.

The Blurb

Each girl survived an unthinkable horror. Now someone wants them dead...

They were the victims of separate massacres. Grouped together by the press, and dubbed the Final Girls, they are treated like something fresh out of a slasher movie.

When something terrible happens to Lisa, put-together Quincy and volatile Sam finally meet. Each one influences the other. Each one has dark secrets. And after the bloodstained fingers of the past reach into the present, each one will never be the same.

My Thoughts

Quel suprise yet another book with "girl" in the title. Surely this will be amazingly brilliant like all the others, well, Stephen King has said that this book is "The first great thriller of 2017" and who am I to argue. This book is going to be huge.

I don´t think the current blurb does it justice, its a great story that is written so well. This is Riley Sagers first book and if this is anything to go by we are in for a treat over the coming years.

There are two stories here. As Quincy remembers the details of the missing hours, We hear the story of what really happened at Pine Cottage and the story of the three Final Girls, Quincy, Sam and Lisa. Both stories will keep you on your toes and are full of tension with both converging in a fantastic ending. The possible outcomes of this story are all hinted upon and you are never sure which avenue Riley Sager is taking you until you get there and for me it wasnt expected.

Great read and highly recommended.

Book Of The Month - February

Well this months Book Of The Month was a very easy decision. The book I have chosen is SweetPea by C.J Skuse. Why? Well its the best book I have read and felt like it was written for me. The characters make the plot jump from the page and make for a wonderful and satisfying read. I laughed, Gasped and cringed my way through the book and was so disappointed when I reached the end, I just didnt want it to end.
